“Follow your passions, overcome gender stereotypes and study science and technology." This is, basically, the message of encouragement the GE Italy women selected to take part in the Women in Tech campaign have for girls about to choose their courses of study. Launched by GE to close the Technology Gender Gap and have 20,000 women working in technical and scientific posts by 2020, the campaign involves awareness-raising addressed to various targets, from the world of education to politics and the media, to attract and foster new female talents in technology and the sciences.
Emanuela, Cristina, Piera and the others all share a great passion for scientific subjects, which led them to study engineering and mathematics. Today they occupy technical posts with varying areas of responsibility in different GE businesses in Italy and they all agree on the importance of the gender mix in the workplace, not only to better reflect society as a whole but also as the keystone to firms' success, in turnover and other terms.
